dUltimate dice - Kickstarter UPDATE #86

Hi Ultimates,

Time for another weekend update!

Project Status & Expectations

The...

dUltimate dice...

have...

arrived!

The dUltimate dice have arrived!

They are finally here!!!

I've build a storage & packing station prior to these dice arriving to make sure I could organize everything neatly. The dice are now awaiting the final inspection which will happen over the coming weeks (lots of dice!) and will then be awaiting their own little wooden box for shipment to YOU!

Storytime:

After the dice had arrived by boat here in the Netherlands (and the customs had had a look at them) the shipping agency would take care of getting these pallets to my doorstep. I had contact with the shipping agency a few days prior and they told me that they would let me know how late the delivery would take place on the day of the delivery. Sounds good!

fast forward to the delivery day... I awoke way to early as a child on Sinterklaas. Even though I was still a bit tired I decided to stand up and put on some clothes, because the delivery of the dice could come at any time (though it'll probably later today because I wasn't informed of the delivery time just yet...) I went downstairs and made myself some breakfast and afterwards...

DING-DONG

(it's here!) I thought as I raced to the door to excitedly open it and was soon greeted by a delivery guy that was a great deal less excited than I was...

"Is this the <location for the dUltimate dice>?"

"Yes"

"I cannot deliver the pallets here"

"... what?"

"Please walk with me" the delivery guy said.

So I walked with him, and while doing so he explained that he wasn't here delivering these pallets with a van or even a box truck... no, we turn around a corner and he shows me this huge 25m (83 ft) long truck that was way too large to make any sort of turns on the narrow streets of my residential area.

At first I was afraid that the delivery would have to be postponed to a later date with a smaller truck, but fortunately the delivery guy was open to look for other avenues. So we walked various different streets in the neighborhood to figure out which streets were a possibility for this gigantic vehicle.

After some time we found a route that would lead to the back of our house. We decided that I would walk in front of the truck to hold off any potential traffic (because the truck didn't leave any room for other traffic) and then he'd slowly move it's way to our house.

Once there the pallets were unloaded and I spent almost an hour lifting these 15kg+ (33 lbs+) boxes into the house together with my wife. Even after all this time this project can still surprise me and I'm sure it'll keep me surprising until the very end!  😁

Replace the fire with dUltimate dice and you'll have an accurate view of what our house looks like now.

Boxes

The boxes are now ready for painting. Due to Chinese New Year this won't be done for another week or two, but after that it's painting -> engraving -> adding the hinge, lock, and foam -> packing & shipping them all to the Netherlands.

Timeline

Due to the Chinese New Year celebration it's difficult for me to gauge the progress of the wooden boxes - which are the main component we need now to complete about 90% of all Kickstarter pledges.

In two weeks time I hope to learn more of the exact status and I'll share with you all the final timeline for these dice to actually start shipping!

Moving soon?

Address changes can still be made by using your PledgeBox survey link. Before the dice will be shipped I'll send out a reminder for everyone to check their address information via mail/Kickstarter.

As always, for any questions and comments you can contact me at info@lenpolygon.com

Keep on rolling!
